It is vital that Boards are connected with, and answerable to, the communities they serve, particularly parents/carers. Boards should never become detached, distant, or unanswerable to parents/carers.
Boards have a key role to plan in listening to stakeholders, primarily parents, pupils and staff when leading their school strategically. Creating a shared vision, good communication channels and visibility of decision makers all helps to unite the school community in a common purpose of being the best school they can be for their community. This session will explain the principles of boards responsibilities and give examples of how they can support their schools in this endeavour. Learning objectives
