I have been a governor for many years, starting as a staff governor of a secondary school in the early 1990s. I was then involved in school governance as a deputy headteacher supporting the work of my school’s governing body. In 2013 I became a governor of a church primary school, taking over as chair in 2014. In 2016 I was successful in my application to become an NLG and have supported a number of schools in this capacity since. I am now chair of trustees of a new church-based academy trust, since my primary school converted to become the lead school in a new academy trust in April 2018.
I have supported a number of secondary and primary governing bodies and chairs since becoming an NLG in 2016 in a variety of ways
My professional role is leading governance for the country’s largest multi-academy trust, which has 63 primary, secondary and special schools spread across England.
Consultancy: I play this role as part of my professional role as Head of Governance
Training: As part of my professional role I am extensively involved in training and supporting governors in all aspects of their work.
